Mac mini shipments to resellers delayed 2-3 weeks

updated 04:00 pm EDT, Thu October 1, 2009

Supply hiccup indicating imminent refresh?

Apple has allegedly notified several resellers that shipments of Mac mini systems will be delayed by two to three weeks, according to Apple Insider. The extended shipping time frame affects the entry-level 120GB model and the 320GB variant. Usually the company has computers on their way to vendors within 24 hours from the time an order is placed.

Customers purchasing Mac minis from Apple's online store will also have to wait, although the delay is only for one to three days. Just the low end model was affected on Wednesday, but shipping for both systems is now set back.

The reports appear to corroborate rumors that Apple is ready to launch an updated desktop system. It remains unknown if the company plans to drop the base model and keep the current high-end model as an entry point, or if both products will be revamped. Despite the variety of speculation pointing to an imminent launch, further details have yet to be leaked.
