Executive climbs 18 positions from last year
Apple CEO Steve Jobs has risen to the 43rd spot amongst Forbes 400 Richest Americans. The iconic chief previously held the 61st position with an estimated net worth of approximately $5.7 billion. Forbes describes Jobs as the "cultish king of the iGeeks," while mentioning the persistent rumors of an Apple tablet device.
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has retained his #1 spot on the list, while current CEO Steve Ballmer sits at #14 and co-founder Paul Allen places 17th. Other tech veterans in the top 20 include Michael Dell and Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page.
Along with Jobs' stake in Apple, his fortune has also been bolstered by investments in Disney. The CEO bought Pixar from George Lucas in 1986 during his hiatus from Apple. The animation company was then sold to Disney for $7.4 billion in stock. Jobs is still Disney's largest investor, holding a portion of the shares worth $3.9 billion.

Steve is practically a pauper...
when compared to Bill Gates. I sure hope Apple stock doubles in another year or so and then Steve might make it into the top ten.
