Adds staff reminders, management reports

MacPractice has released an upgrade for its iPhone framework, iPhone Interface 2.0. The code allows doctors who also have the MacPractice desktop software (MD, DDS, DC or 20/20) to remotely connect to an office database for schedule access, patient records, appointment histories, prescription histories and alerts. It supports VPN access for keeping records secure.

Version 2.0 optimizes performance, and adds a new user interface that closely mirrors the MacPractice desktop experience. Freshly accessible are remote charge posting, reminders for staff and doctors, practice management reports, referring doctors and a new calendar. Planned treatment entries will arrive soon in v2.1.

MacPractice 3.6 is required for iPhone support. The interface costs $800, with a yearly service fee of $200. A $300 discount is available for those who purchase MacPractice along with the interface, or for users who bought MacPractice during 2009.

..but unfortunately I don't think this solution is CCHIT or HL7-certified. That means doctors using it will have trouble talking to other medical institutions that use EMR and that they won't qualify for federal stimulus funds.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
