MacNN Review: Sound Studio 3

updated 03:00 pm EDT, Tue September 29, 2009

High marks for power at low price

MacNN has reviewed Sound Studio 3, which records and edits various audio formats. It offers QuickTime and iTunes compatibility, and supports ID3 tagging in the latter. Version 3.6 adds additional core formats, IMA 4:1 support and interface enhancements.

The app is said to be capable of generating professional-grade effects and soundtracks, though it may be dependent on documentation to help users with a slightly complex interface. It also lacks WMA support, and requires open-source software to be installed before saving MP3 files. It is otherwise described as offering reasonably powerful editing for a much lower price than industry leaders.

The software is $80, and requires Mac OS 10.4 or higher. It also demands a 500MHz processor, and 512MB of RAM. It is listed as Snow Leopard compatible.
