New report generator
Sassafras has released v6.2 of K2 KeyAuditor & KeyServer, its software package used to manage software licenses. The latest version adds new measurement metrics into application usage tracking so that re-allocation of unused software licenses can become fully automatic based on usage patterns. This streamlines app re-allocation, removing various manual tasks from the process. The tracking data can be displayed in reports for trend analysis, migration planning and for license contract renewal negotiations.
Users can contact a Sassafras sales representative to purchase K2 KeyAuditor & KeyServer 6.2. The application is sold on a per-client basis, with the average price per client costing approximately $10 per seat. The update is free for all existing users who purchased the program since November 30, 2008 and customers with an upgrade subscription plan.

Another feature

is the ability to access "shadow" servers - backup servers that are available in case the main server goes down. Sadly, our primary keyserver goes down quite a bit for various reasons, and this update will finally allow my users to run keyed apps (like Photoshop, Mathematica, and Acrobat Pro) when the the main server pukes out.

KeyShadows are not a new feature. They've been around for at least ten years.

Zaren,
As Art Vandelay pointed out, KeyShadows have been around for at least ten years. But you should not rely on KeyShadows for regular support of your client computers. Instead, it would be better to discover and address the issue that is causing your KeyServer to go down.
Technical support from Sassafras is always free and available either by phone at 603-643-3351 or by email at sales@sassafras.com. Unlike other companies, a human answers our phones and can usually get you to a support person immediately.
