Kensington iPhone Sound Amplified Cradle

Kensington today provided users of any iPhone GPS app an option to improve the GPS navigation experience with a new peripheral. The Sound Amplified Cradle mounts to the windshield or a vent and passively doubles the volume of the built-in speaker to make spoken driving directions more audible. It's characterized as an ideal fit for NAVIGON's updated app but should also work for any iPhone mapping app that speaks its directions as well as in speakerphone calls.

The cradle works in either portrait or landscape modes and has inserts that let it work with any existing iPhone both with or without a case. In contrast to some cradles, though, the new model has only an opening for attaching a power cable and doesn't bring a charger of its own. Kensington is shipping its accessory to Apple retail stores first and should have it ready in early November for $40.
