Epson adds affordable home theater projectors

Epson on Thursday announced it will soon add to its home entertainment projector lineup with the MovieMate 60 and PowerLite Home Cinema 705HD. The 3LCD MovieMate 60 is being billed as the lightest and brightest in Epson's all-in-one projector offerings, with 2,000 lumens of brightness. There is also a built-in CD and DVD player, along with a microphone input and stereo speakers. Connections include common standard definition ports as well as HDMI.

The MovieMate 60 can project 16:9 widescreen images up to 60 inches in size from six feet away, or 120-inch ones from 12 feet. There are two 10W speakers and support for 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS. The projector has a built-in handle and includes a case.

The PowerLite Home Cinema 705HD also uses Epson's 3LCD technology and provides 2,500 lumens of brightness through its 1.2x optical zoom lens. Users get four preset color modes for different video sources and types of movies. There is also an HDMI input and USB 2.0 port for throwing photos on flash drives up on the screen. Its 200W bulb can last 5,000 hours in eco mode.

The Epson Home Cinema 705HD and MovieMate 60 are due out in October for $750 and $699, respectively.
