Crossword Forge 6 update
Sol Robots has introduced a major upgrade to its classroom word search and crossword puzzle generator, Crossword Forge 6.0. The latest version delivers a new and improved algorithm, along with a puzzle mask editor and a word "suggester". Users now have the ability to construct super-dense puzzles in a variety of different styles, including the Newspaper look seen in professional publications. Additional new features offer customization capabilities for how the software engine should build a puzzle, such as altering the alignment of starter words, or whether or not to include islands in the puzzle.
The new word suggester enables users to find words better fit for their current puzzle theme, or improve the puzzles density. With the added "puzzler mask" features users are given the ability to exclude areas of a puzzle that they don't want developed, or modify the masks to create differently shaped puzzles. By excluding specific areas of a puzzle, users can choose what parts of the background can be seen and what parts are blocked by the actual puzzle.
Crossword Forge 6 is scheduled for release on the 17th of September this year, and will be compatible with Mac OS X 10.1 or higher. The program is set to cost $50 for first time users, or $30 with a 50% off rebate available for people running versions older than three years. Users who have only had the program for less than three years can get the upgrade for free.
