Epson portable projector, value photo scanner

Epson on Tuesday introduced two new products, including the PowerLite 1716 mobile projector and Perfection V600 Photo scanner. The PowerLite 1716 weighs less than 4lbs for relatively easy portability and sports a 1024x768 resolution along with a high 2,700 lumens of brightness. The 3LCD projector has USB support for displaying images over a USB cable rather than a VGA connection when it's connected to a Windows PC.

Epson also offers the EasyMP wireless add-on, which allows users to control and monitor the projector over a connected network, including sending over closed captioning information. A Quick-Connect Wireless USB key allows for wireless presentations from notebook or desktop PCs with Wi-Fi. Users can also perform computer-free presentations from a USB flash drive.

The Perfection V600 Photo scanner has a 6400x9600 scanning resolution and can process 35mm film slides, negatives, medium-format panoramic film up to 6x22cm (2.3x8.6in) in size as well as regular documents and photos. It has built-in photo restoration capabilities for film and prints that can improve the quality of faded or otherwise damaged images. Using software, it can scan directly to e-mail messages and create PDFs, as well as copy documents. Owners get copies of Adobe Photoshop Elements and ABBYY Fine Reader Sprint Plus OCR for converting documents into editable text.

The PowerLite 1716 projector will cost $999 when it launches in October. The Perfection V600 Photo scanner costs $250 and will be released in the middle of the same month.
