M712X, M609X digital tablets
Genius has released the G-Pen M609X and M712X, two new additions to its line of digital tablets for graphic designers. The two devices build off the companies previously released M609 and M712 tablets, delivering a variety of new features including both a duel-mode, as well as plug-and-play capabilities. Both tablets come complete with a rolling pad for scrolling in four different directions, along with a cordless pen which can be used to write, draw, sketch or sign e-mails.
With the dual-mode function users are able to switch the active area back and forth from wide to standard. Other features in the new tablets include 4000-LPI high-resolution, PhotoShop Elements 6.0 software (with the M712X), and the ability to now make brush-width adjustments within the system. Although both tablets have a lot in common, the M712X provides eight additional short-cut keys that bring it up to 34, while the M609X has 26. The shortcut keys can be used for simpler access to internet or system options, as well as opening applications.
The screen size of each system is also different, with the M712X standing approximately 12” x 7.25” wide in diameter, or 9.5” x 7.25” standard. The M609X sits roughly 7.25” x 5.5” for standard dimensions, or 9” x 5.5” wide.
Both digital tablets are compatible with Mac OS X 10.2.8 or higher, and are priced at $220 for the M712X or $170 for the M609X. Users also receive Macro Key Manager, PhotoImpact 12 SE, and Free Notes/Office Ink software pre-installed.
