iTunes LP leaked

Seeming to confirm rumors, the UK iTunes Store is now offering special versions of CD's bundled with additional content.

The "Cocktail" format was rumored to be one of the announcements Apple was to make at Wednesday's iPod event, but it appears to have been launched early in the form of iTunes LP. An image was posted in the MacRumors forums which offered a brief description of the new format. On top of the usual songs, the albums also include animated lyrics and liner notes, photos, videos, and additional visual media content. Current offerings in the new format include albums from Dave Matthews Band, The Doors, and Norah Jones. Several upcoming albums are also available in iTunes LP as pre-orders.

The visual experience of the record album returns with iTunes LP. Get a gorgeous, immersive digital version of select albums -- right in your iTunes library. So while you listen to your favorite songs by your favorite artists, you can also dive into beautifully animated lyrics and liner notes, performance videos, artist and band photos, and more.

On another note, the iTunes store also seems to be displaying new App lists including "Top Revenue Software" and "Top Grossing Software."
