Report reveals 2009's iPod capacity changes, colors

updated 12:05 pm EDT, Wed September 9, 2009

iPod touch absent from reseller part number list

A leaked list may reveal today's iPod capacity changes, or the lack thereof, according to a report. Said to have been supplied by "people familiar with the matter," the list details an assortment of iPod models and colors, as well as their onboard storage in gigabytes. Significant in the collection is a new iPod classic, with 160GB of memory instead of the current 120GB. Silver and black colors remain.

The Nano and Shuffle remain unchanged in terms of capacities however, and there is no sign of the Touch, which has been widely expected to jump to 64GB. The player has moreover been the focus of rumors saying it may gain a GPS receiver, and that iPods in general will adopt cameras. An absence from the list may support stories of camera difficulties, which could force Apple to delay the shipment of new Touches until later in the month, or further.

Apple's music event is scheduled to begin at 10AM Pacific time today, or 1PM Eastern. The leaked list can be read below:

    160GB

I've had a 160GB iPod for 2 years. How is this an upgrade?

    Upgrade after downgrade

It is an upgrade from the 120 GB iPod Apple used to sell for the last year, after downgrading from the previous 160 GB version.
