Slipped story: Yoko Ono confirms Beatles on iTunes

Yoko Ono claims Beatles content for iTunes

Despite reports that Apple will not make an announcement relating to Beatles music on iTunes, Sky News appears to have accidentally slipped a contradictory report which includes a confirmation from Yoko Ono. Although the story was quickly pulled, the headline and first paragraph remain in Google's cache. If the report is accurate, John Lennon's wife claims the band's works will, in fact, be featured on Apple's music portal.

"The whole of the Beatles back catalogue will be made available to buy on iTunes, Yoko Ono has told Sky News," the first sentence reads, although the introduction lacks details such as a time-frame for the additions.

A separate source claims that Apple is not set to make an announcement regarding Beatles on iTunes. Apple's music-themed event will be held on Wednesday, the same day chosen for the release of remastered Beatles albums and The Beatles: Rock Band.

Analysts speculate the record labels may still choose to delay an iTunes introduction, as CD sales typically bring higher profit margins than digital purchases.

    I don't care

I was born in the 1960's and while this may make a few folks unhappy, but I simply do not care if their music is ever released, in any format, again.

Do iPods have a mono filter?

I can not understand the continued obsession with having the albums for sale through iTunes. Why does anyone care?

There is no live soft mono filter on iPods (afaik) so in order to listen to their catalogue you will have to rip your own albums to an appropriate mix or carry a stereo-to-mono adaptor (that is compatible with an iPod's socket.)

Also, since they feel able to charge £28 per album for the new hard copies I can't see them queuing up to offer them for £8 on iTunes any time soon.
