Sony Ericsson Aino, Satio phones due in October

Sony Ericsson has recently sent out a press invite to certain media outlets in the UK that, the gadget maker says, involves the official unveiling and retail launch of its Aino and Satio touchscreen handsets. The event is scheduled for October 7th, which is when the two cellphones are expected to launch.

The Sony Ericsson Aino sports a 3-inch touchscreen that slides vertically to reveal a keypad, navigation and call buttons, along with an 8.1-megapixel camera and a GPS sensor. It will also have the ability to connect to Sony's PS3 gaming console to share media. US 3G bands will be supported, and Sony has switched from its proprietary Memory Stick format to more common microSDHC cards.

The Satio has a 12.1-megapixel camera paired with a tap-to-focus system, xenon flash and the ability to dub slideshows or photos with commentary after they have been taken. The Satio will have US 3G support, Wi-Fi and a microSDHC memory card slot, and unlike the Aino is a full smartphone running Symbian S60.

Pricing for the handsets remains unknown, as do Sony Ericsson's intentions to bring the pair to North America. [via Pocket-Lint]

microSDHC just in time for PSP with M2

Another example of the great disconnects within Sony. SEMC is touting its new ability to connect to the PS3 gaming console at the very time PSP is launching with an M2 slot.

    BRILLIANT BOYS!!
