Win Mobile 7 features revealed by Motorola staff

While Windows Mobile 6.5 is just around the corner, a series of LinkedIn profiles (one), two, three) of a number of Motorola employees reveal Windows Mobile 7 has been in development for a number of years, as well as a number of features of the beta version of the new OS. Chief among them will be handwriting recognition, and there will be support for NVIDIA's Tegra (APX 2500) platform. The OS will also have native support for MEMS sensors, including an accelerometer and compass.

The new OS will also have something called Nickname Cache, the operation of which is unknown, as well as Windows Live ID used in the Exchange Mobile Client. This suggests users will be able to sign in using a login to access their Windows services. Wi-Fi should also be integrated into all handsets using WM7, or at least the OS will have native host driver capability.

Another software engineer supervised AT&T's Video Share user interface, otherwise known as Rich Video Call, as well as session control and IP Multimedia Subsystem porting. ActiveSync will be automated in the OS as well. A Live Video Search will also be enabled in the next-generation Windows Mobile OS.

Despite the sneak peek at some of the new features of the operating system, a release date remains unknown. Unofficially, the OS is expected before the end of 2010. [via MobileTechWorld]
