Navigon intros car mount for iPhone
Navigon on Friday introduced a car kit for Apple's iPhone. Although full specs are unknown, the new model appears to be simpler than the TomTom version as it doesn't have extras like a speaker.
The Navigon iPhone kit will become available in October, though pricing information is unknown. Navigon's iPhone GPS app is already available for purchase from the App Store. [via GPSReview]

No power outlet?
I don't mind simple, but TomTom has already given them an insight of what's to come so I'm surprised they still stuck with what is essentially an iPhone cradle. Kudos to TomTom for a better version with power, external GPS chip, and a speaker which the iPhone is pretty much useless in this area out of using the Navigon GPS iPhone app.
But after all these announced products with no actual unit to date, I ended up using my 4-year old stand-alone Garmin GPS which is already hard-wired in my vehicle via ProClip USA hardware.
If either of the two (or more in the future) iPhone GPS developers create a similar iPhone cradle that powers the iPhone as well then perhaps its time to ditch the GPS and utilize the iPhone.
Just a thought.
