Nokia reveals specs for Booklet 3G netbook

Today at the Nokia World show, Nokia provided the full, finished details of its Booklet 3G netbook. The 10.1-inch portable is now known to sport a 1280x720 resolution display and will run a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, and Windows 7 preloaded onto its 120GB hard drive. The 16-cell is key to Nokia's controversial battery life claims and is rated at up to 12 hours. As before, the machined aluminum chassis measures less than 0.8 inches thick and weighs less than 2.8 pounds.

As expected of a Nokia device, there are comprehensive connection options, including a Wi-Fi network and 3G/HSPA cellular data network access thanks to a modem and hot-swappable SIM card slot. There will be an option of WCDMA 850/1900/2100 bands or WCDMA 900/2100 bands. Ovi Suite 2.0 is preloaded, which lets users sync calendars, contacts and media with the netbook and compatible Nokia handsets. Nokia Music for PC, Ovi Maps and Social Hub software is preloaded, with the last letting users keep track of their social networks and allowing users to send SMS messages. A 1.3-megapixel webcam with a microphone is integrated as well.

Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR is part of the specs, and assisted GPS functionality lets users find navigation instructions. An accelerometer will recognize the netbook's orientation, though it doesn't seem to support a portrait orientation, so its application is not clear.

For connections, there is an HDMI 1.2 output, three USB ports, an SD card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack for the included headset.

At launch, the Booklet 3G will be available in white, black or blue at a price of 575 Euros ($817) when it ships in the fall.
