Apple TV at Sept event?
Piper Jaffray senior research analyst Gene Munster believes Apple may have more to announce than just iPods at its upcoming media event scheduled for September 9th. He believes the company may also include a surprise announcement for an updated Apple TV device.
Munster cites the one- to two-week shipping time-frame as potential evidence pointing to a product refresh. He considers the delay "puzzling ahead of next week's event."
Although possible specs remain unknown, Munster speculates the company could eliminate the 40GB model and reduce the price for the 160GB variant. "A new model is possible given the hardware has been the same for 2+ years," he claims.
Munster's long-term expectations include DVR functionality, detailed by Apple patents, and subscription-based access to television shows. Many believe the company might also be developing its own dedicated TV set. The new functions and TV, however, are not expected at the event scheduled for September 9th. [via The Loop]

It's possible, but Munster should know that it wouldn't be the first time that Apple has jostled the delivery times just to throw rumour mongers off the scent or sniff out leaks from within the organisation. Low intensity warfare isn't just for use against foreign powers!
