Snow Leopard compatibility
In brief: With the release of Snow Leopard, developers are trying to ensure their software continues to function properly under the new architecture. In the last couple of weeks, updates with "Snow Leopard compatibility" have been pouring in. Blackmagic has released compatibility updates for its Multibridge, DeckLink, and Intensity applications, and AssitiveWare has updated five of its accessibility tools. Meanwhile, Comm-Unity has stated that all of its FileMaker Pro 7+ plug-ins will work under Snow Leopard, and only CNS Image has a few minor glitches that should soon be fixed.
Blackmagic Design has released the latest updates for its Multibridge, DeckLink, and Intensity applications. The updates add full support for Snow Leopard and Final Cut Studio 3. The software has been optimized to run on the new 64-bit architecture which should provide users with a smoother and more fluid experience. Blackmagic's CEO, Grant Petty, believes that Snow Leopard, "dramatically improves speed and responsiveness of creative workstations," and hopes that these improvements will translate to additional sales. The software installers for Multibridge 7.2.6, DeckLink 7.2.6, and Intensity 3.2.6 have been made available for download from the Blackmagic Design web site.
Compatibility updates for several of AssitiveWare's applications are now available. KeyStrokes, Proloquo, SwitchXS, LayoutKichten, and GhostReader are all aimed at making the Mac OS more accessible for users with physical, speech, and language disabilities. KeyStrokes 4.1.1 is a virtual keyboard with multilingual word prediction; SwitchXS 2.5.1 provides mouse and keyboard emulation; Proloquo 2.0.2 is a speech and communication tool that can help users speak; LayoutKitchen 2.1.2 is a keyboard, speech panel and scan panel editor for KeyStrokes, Proloquo and SwitchXS; and GhostReader 1.6.5 is a multilingual document and selection reader.
Comm-Unity Networking Systems has announced that all of its FileMaker Pro 7+ plug-ins are compatible with Mac OS X 10.6. All of the plug-ins should be fully-functional, with the exception of CNS Image. This particular plug-in has a few minor compatibility issues which the company hopes to fix within the coming months. Comm-Unity has also announced that they will be celebrating the release of Snow Leopard by offering a 25 percent discount on all of its FileMaker Pro 7+ plug-ins until September 4th.
