Pre now at Bell Canada

Bell Canada today officially became the second provider anywhere to ship Palm's first webOS smartphone, the Pre. The Canadian wireless provider began carrying the phone in its retail locations and online. Like the Pre offered by provider Sprint in the US, which launched in June, there is a Synergy feature that combines information from a user's multiple calendars, contact, e-mail accounts and messaging applications into one location. This includes Outlook contact, Google and Facebook accounts, which will also bring profile pictures from Facebook tie to a particular contact.

The 3G handset sports a 3.1-inch, 480x320 resolution touchscreen as well as a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Google Maps and iTunes syncing are also part of the Pre's feature, as is multitasking with support for numerous open apps at the same time.

Bell prices the Pre at $200 CAD ($183) on a three-year contract that includes at least a $45 CAD, 500MB data plan or nearly $600 CAD ($549) without a contract. Bell's exclusivity for the Pre in Canada should last six months, with Bell rival Telus likely to be the other provider once that time limit is up.
