Aperture 2.1.4 addresses MobileMe uploading issues

updated 07:10 pm EDT, Thu August 27, 2009

Aperture 2.1.4 released

Apple has released v2.1.4 of its post-production photo utility, Aperture. The application is used to import, edit catalog, organize, retouch, publish, and archive images. The latest version fixes various issues involving import, web publishing, and the creation and ordering of books. The update addresses problems from the previous version that prevented the app from properly detecting and filtering duplicate photos and caused JPEG images to be compressed when uploading photos to MobileMe.

Version 2.1.4 also fixes an issues that caused dust jackets to render poorly when converting between the softcover and hardcover options with the Stock Book theme. Aperture 2.1.4 is available from the Apple online store and other licensed retailers starting at $200.

    What?

So, the only notable updates are those that help Apple make money when you want to make hard copies of content?!

Aperture is in dire need of a major upgrade, and this just doesn't cut it.

    Where!

Where is the new 10x13 size books that are available in the iPhoto '09 update!

I recently ordered several books, but was shopping for a larger size - when I saw the iPhoto update offered the 10x13 book I figured it was only a matter of time before Aperture received the update. Today there is an update and NO 10x13 BOOK! How simple of an addition was that to make - where is it Apple!

    Bad Omen

This upgrade announcement is truly disappointing to those of us that have been patiently waiting for a major update and signals that we have a long wait ahead of us. I suspect this will cinch the deal for many to make the jump to Lightroom
