Snow Leopard build may only be preliminary

Snow Leopard not done?

The rumored gold master version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard is likely still a preliminary release, says MacMagazine. 10A432 is described as a preview due to notable bugs remaining, including Mail instabilities, scroll bar errors, and a collection of freezing applications.

The recent build is still very large, measuring 6.1GB in size. Apple has slated Snow Leopard for a September release, though no specific date has been made public. The final version will be a $29 upgrade for individual Leopard owners, while a five-license family pack upgrade will cost $49.

    Mail instabilities...

That didn't stop them releasing Leopard. 8 releases later, we're still dealing with Mail.app being the buggiest POS Apple has released in a decade.

    Golden Master not Gold

Note to the author and editor: It's Golden Master not Gold Master. A Gold Master is a physical entity, a disc which is inserted into a manufacturing system for duplication. Golden Master is the term used by Apple to define a software build state. Apple can be seen using the term back in 1998 here http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn/tn1132.html Any Apple employee worth their salt will also know it's Golden Master.

    Gold or Golden

Note to the author and editor: It's either Gold Master or Golden Master. Apple has historically used both. As you can see here: http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2001/mar/07macosx_gm.html Gold Master is perfectly correct.

And any Apple employee worth their salt won't care which you use.

    Gold vs. Golden

This is such an important discussion. I wish more people would chime in.

    Shocker!

I can't believe it! I really thought Apple had decided to bypass the entire Release Candidate phase and jump right to Gold Master.

    probably is it

at this point if it still has major problems they are looking at a delayed release, I doubt they want that.

if there are issues we can probably expect a ".1" to hit a couple weeks after launch.

    Good Lord

"I see ignorant people, they're everywhere".

Apple isn't going to stop getting it to the manufacturer because a few idiots can't get their damn system setup properly - every person who has had problems with SNow Leopard are the byproduct of installing c*** that utilise undocumented frameworks.

The only thing that stops a product from getting to the manufacturer are show stopper bugs - there are no show stopper bugs.

MacNN, stop regurgitating c*** from Softpedia - they're a dead website, stop pull information from dead websites with zero credibility.
