updated 04:05 pm EDT, Mon August 10, 2009

Verbatim on Monday announced it is now shipping its new TUFF-CLIP USB drives, which are available in both 4GB and 8GB capacities. Meant to appeal to outdoors travelers and students, the drives have an integrated carabiner clip that allow them to clip to backpacks, belt loops or key chains. The 4GB version is only available in turquoise, while the 8GB model can be had in black only.

Both TUFF-CLIPs ship with a password-protected folder for keeping items secure on Windows systems, along with a freely accessible folder. Windows Vista compatibility and ReadyBoost support allows using the USBs to speed up system performance. The drives are also compatible with Mac and Linux operating systems for regular storage.

Now available, the 4GB TUFF-CLIP is priced at $30, while the 8GB version costs $50.
