Jackson memorial on iTunes
Jermaine Jackson's rendition of the song "Smile," performed at Michael Jackson's public memorial last month, will be available on iTunes, according to the Los Angeles Times. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff has permitted administrators for Jackson's estate to enter into an agreement with Apple to distribute the song and video. The judge's decision one of many he made today as administrators for Jackson's estate are pushing to quickly wrap up any remaining affairs.
Beckloff also permitted the production and distribution of Jackson's 1988 memoir, "Moonwalk," and other memorabilia including a 2010 calendar, commemorative coins, school supplies, cardboard cutouts, posters and buttons. The judge will also decide the fate of a movie project featuring rehearsal footage taken just before the pop star's death in June. Michael Jackson was in preparation for a new tour called This Is It before dying of cardiac arrest at his home in Los Angeles.

Since when did weirdness and worse become something to commemorate and post to iTunes? Almost anyone else would be more worthy of our attention. As examples, think of a man who faithfully coaches a Little League team year after year, or a mother who lovingly wakes up in the middle of the night to care for her frightened child.
In the end, the only people who'll benefit from Michael Jackson's vain and sordid life are likely to be the lawyers who'll grow rich straightening out the squabbles surrounding his estate.
