updated 04:15 pm EDT, Wed August 5, 2009

Lexicon BD-30 BD player

Lexicon has recently announced it will soon begin shipping the BD-30 Blu-ray player, which supports BD-Live thanks in part to its Ethernet connection as well as the picture and picture BonusView feature. The player can also reproduce DVD content, which it will upscale to 1080p, as well as DVD Audio, SACD and CD formats. Lexicon is also quick to point out the BD-30's USB connection, which allows users to play back files from thumb drives and external hard drives, though there is no word on which types of audio or video file formats will be supported.

There is an HDMI input and output, while an RS-232 serial port lets users integrate the BD-30 into their existing home theater setups. There are also accommodations for 7.1-channel surround sound, with Dolby TrueHD, HDCD and DTS-HD surround sound format support. There is a dedicated stereo output, digital optical outputs and coaxial outputs. For integrating it into a user's remote source location, there are IR control ports to extend the IR sensor.

Pricing and a defined release date haven't been announced.
