Local Concerts, HotelPal

  • PhoneFace ($1) is a dialing application that allows users to create a photo contact list. Each contact can be assigned an image and Twitter users can link the application to their account to grab profile pictures from their friends. The lists can be flipped through by swiping across the touch screen and tapping an image gives users to options to call, text, or email the contact.

  • Longhorn (free) can be used to grill a virtual steak on an iPhone or iPod touch. Whenever the application is opened users are presented with a dynamic image and realistic sounds of a steak cooking on a grill. The simulation can be viewed normally or if stereographic glasses are handy users can try out the 3D mode.

  • WaveSense Diabetes Manager (free) is a tool that allows diabetics to track their glucose results, carb intake, and insulin doses. With the application a user can enter their daily glucose results, carb intake, and insulin data in a logbook and turn the information into a trend chart. The information is automatically color coded for the users allowing them to quickly see when they go into high or low ranges. The data can also be shared with family or a health care professional through email reports.

  • Local Concerts (free) enables users to quickly find out what concerts are happening in their area. The first time the application is opened it uses the devices built-in location services to find the user and then builds a list of local concerts. Each entry includes a link to buy tickets online along with a map to the venue. The concert database consists of data collected from Ticketmaster, LiveNation, TicketsNow, TicketWeb, and information provided directly from artists.

  • HotelPal (free) can be used to search for hotels around the world. Users can search by city, zip code, or GPS data and view photos, amenities, and descriptions for each found hotel. The application also provides users with a map to each location and can retrieve each locations availability and rates. Rooms can then be booked from directly within the application using the Travelocity Partner Network which uses 256-bit SSL encryption.
