Sony e-book readers leaked

A pair of images and some PDF manuals on Sony's own site (since pulled) have revealed that the electronics giant has plans to expand its e-book reader range beyond the PRS-505 and PRS-700. While not much is known about the new models, apparently called PRS-300 and PRS-600, the manuals mentioned that models for the US, Canadian, UK, French, German and Netherlands models will be introduced. Available colors will include silver, red and black, and like the current range, there is no Wi-Fi connection or built-in backlighting.

The PRS-300 will have a 5-inch screen without an audio output or memory card slots, with integrated storage space set at 440MB. The PRS-600 will add a 6-inch touchscreen, an audio output and associated music playback capability and an SD and MS memory card slot. There will be 380MB of built-in memory.

Pricing or release dates are unknown. The current 6-inch PRS-505 does not have a touchscreen but can play back music, and is priced at $280. The PRS-700 adds a 6-inch touchscreen and carries a $350 price tag. [via MobileRead]

    Sony's own Reference Libr

These manuals would usually be available via Sony's own Reference Library which is for use by Sony's Authorized Service Network and invited users only.

Interestingly, the "docs.sony.com/release/smd" links don't seem to work as of today-which is how I found the PDF manuals for the PRS-300 & PRS-600.
