Drive Genius 2.2 released
Prosoft Engineering has released v2.2 of its flagship application, Drive Genius. The software is used to optimize hard drives to make them run faster and work more efficiently overall. The latest version supports Mac OS Snow Leopard and works with non-HFS volumes where possible. The update newly displays defragment, scan, and volume shift progress bars and provides information about any bad blocks found during scans.
Version 2.2 additionally boasts an enhanced repartition performance and defragmentation functionality. The update features various bug fixes -- Volumes can be resized to larger than 1TB and progress sizes are displayed properly when duplicating a volume.
Drive Genius 2.2 requires Mac OS X 10.4.9 and the interface requires Quartz Extreme to function. The application can be purchased from the Prosoft Engineering online store or any of the Apple Store locations for $100.
