Nissan iPhone car app
Nissan is developing an iPhone app to accompany a trio of electric cars, according to sister site Leftlane News. The cars are expected to be announced on August 2nd, at which point the iPhone app may be announced as well. Taking advantage of Apple's iPhone 3.0 firmware, the app should be able to monitor a car's battery level away from the display.
Users will further be able to gauge related factors, such as recharge times and the cost of a fill-up at a charging station. Also possible should be control of heating and air conditioning, permitting a car to be remotely thawed or cooled in cases of bad weather. The technology is currently described as being in a prototype stage.

Yet another impressive iPhone app while the boring Palm Pre banner ad continues running right next to the article. Love it.

Well, we'll have to wait and see if it gets approved. At least Palm doesn't have the atrocious approval process that Apple is famous for. They seem to deal with developers much better. And don't forget that Palm is an old dog when it comes to developers. They've dealt with developers since their early models - back in 1997.
I'm starting to really dislike Apple's approach with this silly approval process. It's very big brother, and it goes against everything that is Apple. I think it's really hurting their image.
Nevertheless, don't count out Palm yet ... they just got started. And they've had a pretty good start so far.
