AspireRevo to go dual-core

Acer's AspireRevo nettop, notable for being the first PC to sports NVIDIA's ION platform, will be getting an upgrade soon, according to a Monday Fudzilla report. The single-core Atom CPU will be replaced in favor of a dual-core Atom, though clock speeds will remain the same, at 1.6GHz. At the same time, there will be double the RAM standard, at 4GB, and storage space will be bumped to 320GB from 250GB.

An optional 500GB will be offered and should mirror the recently spotted Gateway QX2800 nettop, which is a near clone of the reference Acer system.

Otherwise, the same specs remain, including Wi-Fi capability, an HDMI output, six USB 2.0 ports and a 4-in-1 card reader. All updated AspireRevos will come preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. Pricing for the 320GB AspireRevo in Europe will be the equivalent of $500, with the 500GB version priced at $567. They are expected to be released sometime in August, with a US release date expected at or near the same time.
