Sprint Android wait worthy

Speaking at the Fortune's Brainstorm: Tech conference on Friday, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said he was glad the provider waited until the second version of Google's Android operating system.

"The reviews say now it's ready for prime time," Hesse said about Android. "It wasn't when it first came out." At the same time, Hesse said Sprint will have at least one Android-based handset for sale this year.

As for the latest big hit from Sprint, the Palm Pre, Hesse was less vocal, as Sprint will soon be reporting its earnings. He did mention it would take about four months to tell if the Pre is a sales success because Palm hasn't supplied Sprint with all the devices it could sell.

Palm Pre profits are also not as high as some are speculating them to be, Hesse noted, and most of it "is wrong." [via CNET]
