DYMO makes 450-series label printers official

updated 05:35 pm EDT, Wed July 22, 2009

DYMO 450's to ship soon

After surfacing earlier this month, DYMO today officially launched three new label printers in its LabelWriter 450 series. The 450 series printers output US Postal Service approved labels, barcodes and name badges, among other uses. The new series can print from 50 to 70 labels per minute, depending on the model, from software like Word, Outlook, QuickBooks and CardScan. USPS labels can be printed for First Class, Express Mail, Flat Rate postage, postcards and more. The label writers connect to Macs and PCs via USB.

The standard DYMO LabelWriter 450 prints 4-line labels at up to 50 labels per minute, while the DYMO LabelWriter 450 Turbo adds DYMO Stamps software and USPS stamp printing. It bumps label-printing specs to 70 per minute.

The DYMO LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo has similar specs to the Turbo and holds two label rolls at once, allowing for instant switching between standard label printing and DYMO Stamps postage labels. It can also be loaded with two rolls of the same label paper for high number print jobs.

The 450 series is due by the end of July in retail stores and online. The standard 450 is $110, the 450 Turbo is $140 and the 450 Twin Turbo is $210. The printers, which require Mac OS X 10.4 or higher or Windows XP or Vista, also include new v8 DYMO software that is available online to users of its previous product lines.
