Apple Q3 FY09 call
Apple is set to disclose its third-quarter FY09 financial information on Tuesday, July 21st. A conference call will be streamed live at 8:00 p.m. EDT on the company's website, while the recording will be available through the following two weeks.
J.P. Morgan securities on Friday increased its price target and earnings estimates for AAPL stock. The analysts expect the updated MacBooks to boost sales for the last few weeks in June, while the iPhone shipment forecast was raised from 3.9 million units to 4.3 million units.
A witness report suggests Steve Jobs attended the recent Coldplay concert in San Francisco. He was reportedly spotted talking to Dave Holmes, the TV host and entertainment writer. Although Jobs is back to his post at the Cupertino headquarters following a six-month leave of absence, his time at the office is currently limited to a few days a week. It remains unknown if he plans to participate in the conference call.
Analyst estimates vary for the third quarter, with revenue expectations averaging $8.16 billion and earnings-per-share anticipated to fall near $1.16. For the previous four quarters, Apple has easily beat its modest guidance. Preliminary data gathered by IDC suggests the company may have ceded its U.S. market share rank to Toshiba, dropping to fifth place with Mac shipments down 12-percent from last year, although the numbers have yet to be finalized.
