Bookworm Adventures 2 scheduled for August release

PopCap on Wednesday announced a sequel to its Bookworm Adventures game. The second edition includes three new books including "Fractured Fairytales," "The Monkey King," and "Astounding Planets," consisting of ten chapters each. Bookworm Adventures 2 also features a new Infinite Replay gaming mode where users fight against the villains from a chosen book, along with a new Arena mode which requires users to spell words quickly to win. The title also provides six mini-games, including "Mutant Words," "Golden Coins," and "Word Up," as well as 130 new enemies and 20 new treasures.
Players take on the role of Lex the bookworm, leading him through a series of literary works. Throughout the game, Lex must overcome enemies by forming words from a set of constantly changing letter tiles -- longer and more complex words give Lex more fighting skill. Lex can team up with literary figures that help defeat enemies.
Bookworm Adventures 2 will be released on August 15th and will cost $20. The first game from the series is currently available from the PopCap online store for $20. There is also an iPhone version of the game available from the App Store for $5.
