Aurora for Mac ships

Light Crafts has announced that its Aurora photo-editing software is now available for the Mac, introducing some new features. Aside from editing, the app organizes photos and shares them with other people. The Mac version carries over all of the functions of its Windows predecessor, such as cropping, color adjustment and re-lighting. The software can also drag-and-drop pictures from other applications, including iPhoto.

Amongst the new features for both platforms are punch and retouch editing tools, and integration of Shutterfly, an online publishing service. The retouch tool copies textures from one section of an image to another, adapting colors to create a natural look. The punch component enhances photos by improving color contrast within midtones, leaving shadows and highlights unaltered.

To promote the new edition of Aurora, the company is temporarily offering the app for free, using the promo code "FREE24," as part of a 24-hour deal. The gratis period extends until July 16th at 6:15AM, after which the software will return to its normal price of $20.
