RingtoneStudio 2.0 ships

PocketMac has released RingtoneStudio 2.0 for the iPhone. The application is used to create custom ringtones, avoiding Apple's 99 cent surcharge. The new version includes visual waveform editing, with zoom up to 16x for more precise adjusments. Also present is volume control, and the option to insert fade-ins and fade-outs.

The app is further compatible with QuickTime, allowing users to exchange sounds with QuickTime or QuickTime Pro. Files imported into RingtoneStudio can be clipped and edited before being exported to iTunes' ringtone library.

RingtoneStudio costs $30, and is compatible with all iPhone models, pairing with Mac OS X 10.4 or later. PocketMac notes that it is giving away iPhone cases to the first 500 customers, though shipping and handling are extra.

    $30?

Why on earth would I need this when GarageBand does more or less the same thing for free?
