Palm Pre sales still strong?

updated 03:10 pm EDT, Fri July 10, 2009

Palm Pre Still Sells Well

Pacific Crest analyst James Faucette today said that Palm Pre sales are still healthy over a month after the phone launched. Referring to his own checks, he estimates that about 40,000 of the multi-touch phones are now shipping each week and that the numbers could hold through at least August. He also expects that sales could improve if Palm can improve its shipments to Best Buy and Radio Shack, which have had short supply ever since launch.

Those sales are also likely to get larger once Palm adds more carriers besides Sprint, including Bell in Canada as well as Telefonica's European countries. A mid-range device is also thought probably for before the end of the year for AT&T and other carriers, further improving Palm's bottom line. Most now anticipate this to be the Eos.

The target contradicts at least one analyst report suggesting falling sales and would give Palm relatively strong sales for its quarter ending in August, with roughly 550,000 Pres passing through the company if an estimate of 70,000 launch units is true. Although far smaller than for Apple, RIM or other major smartphone makers, it would represent about 50 percent more sales than Palm managed for all of its phones in just the last quarter.

    slightly creepy actor

The main actor for those ads is starting to creep me out a little - the staring eyes and paleness are slightly cyborgish, no?

    No one cares

Except Palm Pee fanbois and hardcore Sprint customers. That's Bout it. Sales have already filled that group. It's why sales are crawling at a slow pace. Sure they can build and ship more to get analyst to say c*** like this. The true sales numbers will be the real data.

    Sales may slowing, but...

I think Palm has a decent chance to get on track against the likes of Motorola, LG, HTC and the slew of WinMo devices. I'd say Palm doesn't stand much of a chance against RIM or Apple, though. RIM still has the corporate accounts and Apple has everything else in the form of a solid platform top to bottom, a terrific retail channel and maybe a lock on China.

    its not so bad

I have the 3Gs and my boyfriend just got the Pre. I have to say the OS is really well thought out and it browsing the web just as well as the iPhone. The plans are significantly cheaper than what you can from AT&T for the iPhone.

    Bowing

Why are all the dark hair people bowing and this blonde white woman has an elevated position? Are they bowing to the white goddess or something?

    picture explain

The picture is actually quite innocent.

All the dark hairs are fixing to 'sprint' up to the girl and take her Pre.

Which is not something that asians would normally do, but the phone is just that hot.

It's funny how you thought they were 'bowing' to the blonde white woman...and I thought they were all doing calestenics, which the girl probably had signed up to do as well, but she showed up out of uniform and then got distracted with her phone.

Are you saying you've never seen a real blond before. You know, the kind where the carpet matches the drapes. I know, I'm gonna take some heat for that.
