TransIntl ships new sleds
Trans International has launched 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch Mac Pro hard disk sleds, allowing Mac Pro owners to swap out hard disks and solid state drives. The sleds allow for keeping numerous drives on hand for swapping out -- backing up RAIDs or databases or keeping client projects on separate drives. The SATA-based sleds are available in two configurations, one for 2006/2007/2008- model year Mac Pros and the other for 2009 Mac Pros.
The sleds plug into a Mac Pro, accessing the main logic board, without the need for power or data cables. Swapping drives does require a shutdown of the Mac.
The sleds are priced alone or in kits of two or four sleds. The 3.5-inch sleds are $30 for a single sled, $50 for a two-sled kit and $90 for a four-sled kit. The 2.5-inch drive sleds are $40, $70 and $120 for similar configurations.

That's outrageous

The prices these clowns are charging for a piece of bent metal should be more than enough for you to boycott them and stop giving them any publicity. There is nothing sane about charging $29 for 20 cents of bent mild steel. That's not capitalism, that's a felony.

Because who cares how much money and time they spent designing, milling, or acquiring these things. It should only cost what it would cost you to bend some cheap metal in your basement... Only Apple is allowed to charge high prices for low-cost stuff...

Buy from Apple Only!

Do not assume that these are going to match the OEM drive sled, I ordered one and it is made of steel and has a very different finish from Apple's own. Sticks out like a sore thumb. Way overpriced for a piece of bent metal and four off-the-shelf screws from the hardware store. No rubber grommets like Apples. I would not purchase again, I'd rather spend the extra few dollars and get Apple's OEM sled.
