Epic Tilt launches TapStar rhythm game for iPhone

updated 11:40 pm EDT, Wed July 8, 2009

TapStar iPhone rhythm game

Epic Tilt in collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment has launched a new rhythm game for the iPhone and iPod touch, TapStar. The game consists of four differently colored arrows, one in each corner of the mobile phones screen, with a series of matching colored arrows that move upwards in the middle of the screen. Following the same basic principle as the Guitar Hero games, players listen to a song while tapping the colored arrow in the corner of the iPhone, at the very moment the same colored arrow appears at the top of the screen.

The game provides four different difficulty settings including rookie, amateur, pro and TapStar. Points are earned for every successful tap the player makes; the amount of points earned is dependant on how many successful taps are made in a row. In the end, all levels are judged by misses, the longest streak, and the overall accuracy of the taps.

TapStar features music from various artists such as Britney Spears, Sarah McLachlan, Three Days grace, Pink, John Mayer and Cheap Trick, with each song counting as a different level in the game. Players also have access to links for purchasing Sony Music tracks from the iTunes Store, directly from within the game.

TapStar can be downloaded directly from the App Store and is currently available at a sale price of $1.

Can we get the screenshots rotated 90 degrees CCW, so they are directly readable in this article?
