No plans for HTC Hero on T-Mobile

No HTC Hero at T-Mobile

T-Mobile today declared it has had its current fill of Android-powered handsets, as the wireless provider's CTO, Cole Brodman, said at the myTouch 3G launch event that his company has "no plans" to bring the HTC Hero to its network. The news from Gizmodo is contrary to earlier rumors that had the handset coming as the third Android device at T-Mobile.

US customers may still get their hands on the device, although at rival Sprint, as it's been linked to the provider. If this proves true, this would be that carrier's first Android device.

The Hero has 7.2Mbps 3G network access and also sports a GPS sensor, Wi-Fi, an accelerometer, a compass and a microSDHC card slot. Power comes from a 528MHz ARM-based processor, while its screen is oleophobic, which, like the iPhone 3GS, resists oil. The main body is coated in Teflon for scratch resistance, while a 3.5mm headphone jack is compatible with headphones of third-party manufacturers. A 5-megapixel camera with autofocus completes the feature set.
