updated 10:55 am EDT, Wed July 8, 2009

MacProxy 1.0 ships

Tidal Pool has released MacProxy 1.0, which forwards network settings to a proxy server, enabling users to hide their IP address and navigate the Internet anonymously. The software supports Safari, Firefox, Mail, iChat, FTP and Telnet, and as well as other applications which may not have internal proxy tools. MacProxy users can also tether their iPhone, turning it into a local proxy.

Compatible protocols include SOCKS 4, 4a and 5. The application is controlled through a "menulet" interface, as well as a System Preferences pane. Session statistics can be monitored, such as incoming and outgoing traffic and the number of active connections.

MacProxy requires Mac OS X 10.5.7. The program is available from the Tidal Pool website for $20.
