Sharp intros AQUOS TVs

Sharp on Tuesday introduced its latest AQUOS LCD TVs, including several models featuring LED backlighting. New models in the E77 series include the The 65-inch LC-65E77UM and 60-inch LC-60E77UN, each featuring 1080p resolution and the company's Advanced Super View technology designed to reduce haze and reflectivity. Both offerings support 120Hz frame-rate conversion and a pixel response time of 4ms.

The AQUOS LE700 series integrates Sharp's LCD technology with full-array LED backlighting. Initial products include the 52-inch LC-52LE700UN, 46-inch LC-46LE700UN, 40-inch LC-40E700UN and 32-inch LC-32LE700UN. The devices feature 1080p X-Gen panels and 10-bit processing, with dynamic contrast rations up to 2,000,000:1. Each model supports 120Hz frame rates and a pixel response time of 4ms, while the viewing angle is claimed to reach 176 degrees.

The company also designed the LE700 series to be more efficient, with higher luminance per watt. The 52-inch model is said to consume 105W, approximately 68-percent below Energy Star 3.0 guidelines. The LED technology is also mercury-free, while extending the lifespan to an estimated 100,000 hours.

The 65-inch E77 LCD TV will ship in September for $4500, while the 60-inch variant carries a price of $3500. The 52-inch LE700 will be available later this month for $2,800, with the 45-inch model priced at $2,200. The smaller 40-inch TV retails for $1,700, while the 32-inch panel can be purchased for $1,100. [via Engadget]
