Canon imageCLASS printers
Canon on Tuesday announced the release of a pair of new imageCLASS color laser multifunction printers, the MF8050Cn and MF8350Cdn. They are the most affordable color laser MFPs in the range, and are meant for use by small and home businesses. The MF8350Cdn is capable of 21 pages per minute (ppm) printing and copying speeds either in color or black and white. It can also print on both sides of the paper, can photocopy documents and fax them as well.
The MF8050Cn is a little slower, at 12 black and white ppm and 8 color ppm. Both share the same 600x600dpi maximum print resolution, have built-in networking for sharing them among multiple workstations and have the ability to scan documents straight to a connected USB drive or to e-mail out. The same 33.6kbps fax modem is integrated into both machines as well.
The MF8050Cn and MF8350Cdn have a 5-line LCD with animation that makes navigating their menus and changing settings easy, via on-screen instructions. Canon's Auto Gradation Adjustment feature is present in either printer, ensuring consistent color output quality by monitoring the gradation, density and color to match environmental conditions. Black reproduction is a focus and, aside from deeper blacks, involves a technique that avoids using non-black toner when unnecessary, extending the time between replacements when most content doesn't involve color.
Both new Canon printers are due to ship in September, with the MF8050Cn and MF8350Cdn due to be priced at $499 and $699, respectively.
