Emtec intros G-Box nettop

EMTEC has recently showed off an upcoming nettop PC flying under the G-Box codename. The small form factor PC will be powered by the NVIDIA Ion platform that mates an Intel Atom CPU with the HD-capable graphics and system combo chipset. Despite this capability, there is a VGA output instead of HDMI, indicating the PC is aimed at a business environment, though a version with the video and sound signal port is expected to launch later on.

The PC is based on an existing Pegatron design, and is meant to attach to the VESA mounts on the rear of computer monitors and HDTVs. There will be a 160GB hard drive containing Windows XP; expansion centers on six USB ports, with two hidden behind a front-panel mounted door and four on the rear of the PC.

Compared to its closest competition, from the likes of the Acer Revo and the ASUS eBox, the GBox is noticeably thinner and about $33 cheaper, as prices are expected to start at the equivalent of about $293. [via TechDigest]
