MSI X-Slim X400 Detailed

MSI today rounded out the hardware specs for the last of the current wave of X-Slim ultraportables. The 14-inch X400 will be the more colorful model of the group with "personalized" color bezels around the lip of the frame and its trackpad. It's also billed as one of the thinnest, lightest systems at its screen size at under an inch thick and 3.3 pounds.

The company is silent on processor choices other than to say Intel's CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage) chips will be part of the design. However, a typical system will have 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 802.11n Wi-Fi and GMA 4500 integrated video with HDMI output. Higher-end models could have as much as 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard disk and either an external DVD or Blu-ray optical drive. A 4-cell battery will give the system 4 hours of battery life, but an optional 8-cell pack is estimated to more than double this to 9 hours.

Pricing and launch dates for specific areas aren't known, but the X400 should arrive in the US as with other models.
