Sprint adds Motorola Clutch i465 to handset lineup

Sprint adds Moto Clutch

Wireless provider Sprint on Monday announced it will offer the Motorola Clutch i465 later this summer. First offered by Sprint subsidiary Boost Mobile, the Clutch is a rugged device that meets the US military's 810F specifcations and is rated to withstand temperature and altitude extremes, as well as exposure to dust, shock, vibration and solar radiation. The device is also the first device with a full QWERTY keyboard to run on Sprint's iDEN push-to-talk network.

Otherwise, the Clutch features a 1.8-inch screen with a 128x160 resolution, a GPS sensor and a VGA camera that can record videos. There is Bluetooth support, as well as Java compatibility for browsing Java-enabled sites and playing games.

Plans that support push-to-talk start at $30 per month. The Web & Navigation plan includes the above and adds unlimited data, web browsing and GPS navigation for $40 per month for Nextel phones or $50 per month for PowerSource and Nextel Direct Connect-capable Sprint phones. The Clutch itself will cost $40 with a new two-year service agreement and after a$20 instant rebate and $50 mail-in rebate when it is released at an unspecified time this summer by Sprint.
