updated 11:10 pm EDT, Mon June 29, 2009

Netgear ships new router

Netgear on Monday launched the RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router WNDR3300, featuring an eight-antennae setup that delivers more channels, less interference and better connections. The dual-band Wireless-N router offers the bandwidth to support simultaneously surfing the Internet, e-mailing, streaming HD video, playing online games and making VoIP calls. The new router adds a "Push 'N' Connect" feature that allows users to quickly and securely add computers to the wireless network.

The eight-antennae, dual-band router allows for up to 23 channels and delivers ratings of 15x speeds and 10x range improvements over the Wireless-A baseline. It works in either a 2.4 GHz or a dual 2.4- and 5GHz configuration and provides a double firewall with NAT and SPI support. It carries WPA2-PSK and WPA-PSK protected access with WEP 64- and 128-bit encryption.

The new router requires a broadband Internet connection and works with Mac, Windows and Linux computers. Connections via Dual-band Wireless-N adapters are recommended for best results, but it works with Wireless A, B, G, N and draft-N signals. The WNDR3300 is now available for $110.
