Touch Book due out in July

First unveiled back in March, the Touch Book from Always Innovating is due to ship sometime in July. The device uses an 8.9-inch touchscreen with 1024x600 resolution and can be used as a tablet PC, or like a more conventional netbook-like PC with the addition of the optional snap-in keyboard.

Processing power comes from a 600MHz Texas Instruments OMAP3530 CPU and 512MB of RAM. The Linux operating system is preloaded onto an 8GB microSD memory card. The Touch Book also has built-in Wi-Fi 802.11 and Bluetooth, as well as an accelerometer for switching the screen orientation depending on how it is positioned. There are built-in speakers, a microphone and a headphone jack, as well as six USB ports. Battery life is rated at more than 10 hours.

The Touch Book is priced at $299, and the optional keyboard adds another $99. [via jkOnTheRun]
