macVCR, Window Cleaner


  • KavaMovies 1.3 ($35) is a movie database application that allows users to organize the movies they have seen, the ones they want to see and those that are a part of their collection. The application also connects to the internet to obtain extra information about each movie such as actors, directors, genres and more. Version 1.3 includes a new Awards section that lets users see which movies were nominated for any year's Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards, etc. The update also features new settings that allow users to control which information is displayed in the browser.     ProfCast 2.5 ($60) is a tool for recording lectures and creating enhanced podcasts. Users can make audio recordings and then include either PowerPoint and/or Keynote slides to enhance the presentation. ProfCast sports live presentation recording, synchronization of slides with audio, Keynote and PowerPoint support, RSS generation and publishing support. The update includes the ability to publish recordings to Podcast Producer and has been made to be compatible with Snow Leopard. [Download - 20.5MB]

  • HyperImage 2.1 ($25) can be used to download pictures from the internet. Users enter a link into the application and it will then browse to that site and download all of the images on it. HyperImage 2.1 is now more efficient and can download images more smoothly on older computers. It also features an updated interface, which has been styled to look more like a standard Leopard application. [Download - 3.1MB]

  • macVCR 2.5 ($22) can record screen activity on a Mac and then turn that recording into a Quicktime movie. The software provides users with several options for recordings including the ability to specify recording length, compression quality, codecs and frames per second. The new release is strictly a maintenance update and addresses several bugs within the application. [Download - 7.3MB]

  • Window Cleaner 1.5 (free) is a small application which runs in the background and hides idle applications. Users can customize how long an application needs to be idle before it is hidden. The software also includes the ability to build a list of applications that Window Cleaner will not hide no matter how long they are inactive. Version 1.5 includes a fix that should allow the software to run properly on PowerPC computers. [Download - 0.5MB]

      ProfCast

      I'd be wary of using ProfCast in a production environment. I spent hours and hours creating an lecture and the app crashes no matter what format I export it in. The best part is that after initial contact with their support team, including Head Honcho David Chmura, they're pretty much ignoring me now.
