First pornographic iPhone app gains Apple approval

iPhone porn gains approval

Apple has approved what may be the App Store's first truly pornographic title, claims the app's developer, Allen Leung. While Hottest Girls has been available for download for some time, Leung recently updated the software to include partially or completely naked women, without any objection from Apple so far. Until recently the company would typically reject any app with "offensive" content, including even historically important works like the Kama Sutra.

Hottest Girls is rated 17+ however, and includes a new descriptor, "Frequent/Intense Sexual Content or Nudity." Apple may be loosening restrictions on content at the App Store as a result of changes made in the iPhone 3.0 firmware. Access to applications can now be restricted by rating, which may give the company license to concentrate on more practical approval problems, such as security or troubleshooting.

    !pornography

There's a difference between images of naked women and pornography. Naked women might pass for pornography in the most prudish countries in the World (such as the US), but most civilized cultures would not consider it p*** until actual s** acts are depicted. There's nothing inherently objectionable in the naked human body, other than the overblown reaction our society conditions us to have to nudity in the US, due to such stringent regulation and censorship in the media by our government.

    Oh dear..

And many of us thought there was enough poor quality stuff on the app store as it is. This app now paves the way for a multitude of smutty apps to feed the habits of the desperate sado's that can't get any real action.
    Way to go Apple.. :/

Oh yes.. This app "paves the way".. And it's all Apple's fault.

next thing you know, there will be magazines, video tapes and DVD's.. h***, maybe even some websites that offer p*** to these "desperate sado's who cant get any real action". Thanks Apple!!

I am sure Apple wants to keep a clean image and will want to prohibit things like this because when they do start to let them in I can see it getting out of control but what they need to do is open the process so that if someone does want an app like this then they can and don't have to do it through apple, they can buy somewhere else and still keep Apple's image clean.
